@ conrad

soulflip performs 7 days a week, 364 days a year at conrad bali resort and spa (we get nyepi off)

you can catch us performing with our dancers poolside at suku restaurant from 8-9:30pm every monday, wednesday, thursday and saturday – we perform different songs and choreographies on different days, so if you liked us, come see us again for a different show!

for a mellower side of soulflip, try the beachside 8 degrees restaurant on tuesdays, fridays and sudays, where the musicians perform a chillout set from 7-8pm.

also, you can join our musicians for a poolside drink at the azure bar late afternoons and sunset every day.

hi paul!

nice site, nice pictures. yes, in many ways there’s a good market for photographers in bali. tons of jobs floating around for weddings, ads, website photo’s, travel shots etc. however i’m sure you’re aware the arts are a ridiculously competitive field, and only more so in bali as everyone and their brother wants to move here!

that said, if you bring enough money to float here for a while (not necessarily that much if you’re very careful and good at budgeting, willing to live in some fairly low-roller places to start off, stick to the local beer, and not too much of it etc) it’s certainly possible. you just need to make some good connections, work for cheap at first, etc plus, i get the impression being at photographer isn’t the hardest angle to work in bali, there really is a lot of work here in that field.

in my case it took me about 1 month to find my band our first gig, about 6 to find one that was steady and paid decently, and almost a year to get our finances in the black column instead of the red one! it was worth it though.

lemme know if you have any more questions, i never mind racking up some karma points ;)

so i just just signed into trip advisor and immediately wanted to see what people were saying about us (naturally) it’s a long slog digging through all the comments but here’s the first one i found, translated from german:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripadvisor.com%2FShowOneUserReview-g297698-d320013-r89959163&sl=de&tl=en_US&hl=en_US&ie=UTF-8

“Der Pool am Abend wird mit Fackeln beleuchtet und des Nachts im riesigen Pool bei live DJ Music zu schwimmen ist ein Traum.”

translation:

“The pool is illuminated at night with torches at night and in the huge pool with live DJ music is a dream to swim.”

wow, using a bit of google-fu helps a lot with the tripadvisor reports! (hint conrad bali searchtermX OR serchtermX site:tripadvisor.com)

here’s a nice blurb from alain from antwerp:

“Every night there is a DJ coming to the hotel to play some modern asian style music, just wonderful! ”

and here’s another one from a_go_da from taiwan:

“Total posh relaxation: curved lines of all buldings, running water everywhere, live tropical mood music, meditation class”

thanks for the compliments guys!

Hi Kazz

Hi 8yrs ago we stayed at the Conrad and yourself and the three girls dancing, it still plays in our heart. When we were there we brought my father and mother in law to experience the beauty of Bali. Unfortunately my mother in law recently died due to a brain tumour, so we are coming to reminise with my father in law and scatter her dreams we are also bringing my sister in law and her family and our daughter.
We look forward to seeing you and the girls. We arrive on 23.12.11 and leave 02.01.12.
It is great to see that you have managed to keep in the industry and share your talents and inspire the people around you.
See you soon

Nic and John
